Youth Empowerment Forum (YEF) School Support Programme Overview
The Youth Empowerment Forum (YEF) School Support Programme is a holistic education support initiative designed to improve learning outcomes, learner well-being, and school-community collaboration. The programme supports learners from early grades through secondary school by addressing academic, digital, social, and developmental needs that affect educational success.
The programme works in partnership with schools, educators, parents, and communities to create enabling learning environments where learners are supported to reach their full potential.
Academic Support and Learning Enhancement
YEF provides structured academic support to learners through tutoring, homework assistance, exam preparation, and literacy and numeracy interventions. Special focus is placed on foundational learning, curriculum support, and bridging learning gaps.
Key activities include:
-
After-school tutoring and homework support
-
Reading, writing, and numeracy programmes
-
Exam preparation and study skills workshops
-
Learner mentoring and academic guidance
Digital and Learning Resources Support
The programme strengthens access to learning resources by integrating digital tools, devices, and connectivity into education support. Learners are assisted with digital literacy skills, online learning platforms, research skills, and educational technology use.
Learner Well-being and Psycho-social Support
Recognising that learning is influenced by social and emotional factors, the YEF School Support Programme incorporates psychosocial support, life skills, and wellness interventions. These include mentorship, confidence-building, leadership development, and referral to support services where necessary.
Parent, Educator, and Community Engagement
The programme actively involves parents and caregivers in learners’ education through awareness sessions, communication support, and engagement activities. YEF also collaborates with educators and school leadership to complement existing school programmes and address identified needs.
Career Guidance and Pathway Support
For senior learners, the programme provides career guidance, subject choice support, and exposure to post-school pathways including tertiary education, skills training, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities.
Advocacy and Education Support
YEF advocates for improved access to quality education, learner support services, and equitable school resources. The programme engages education stakeholders to strengthen accountability, inclusion, and learner-centred development.
