Youth Empowerment Forum (YEF) Helpdesk Programme Overview

The Youth Empowerment Forum (YEF) Helpdesk Programme is a community-facing support initiative designed to provide young people and community members with accessible information, guidance, and referral services. The programme acts as a one-stop support point that helps individuals navigate public services, opportunities, and systems that often feel complex or inaccessible.

The YEF Helpdesk Programme responds to everyday challenges faced by youth, including access to education, employment, social services, documentation, and basic rights.

Information and Advisory Support

The Helpdesk provides reliable, up-to-date information on available opportunities, programmes, and services. Trained staff and volunteers assist beneficiaries with understanding requirements, processes, and next steps.

Support areas include:

  • Education and training opportunities

  • Employment and entrepreneurship support

  • Government and social services access

  • Youth programmes and funding opportunities

Application and Administrative Assistance

The programme offers hands-on assistance with completing applications and required documentation, reducing barriers linked to digital access, literacy, and bureaucracy.

This includes support with:

  • CVs and job applications

  • Learnerships, bursaries, and funding applications

  • Online forms and digital platforms

  • Basic documentation guidance and referrals

Referral and Case Support

The YEF Helpdesk Programme operates as a referral hub, connecting individuals to relevant institutions, service providers, and partners. Where needed, the programme provides basic case tracking to ensure beneficiaries receive appropriate follow-up support.

Digital Access and Support

The Helpdesk integrates digital support by providing access to computers, internet connectivity, and digital guidance, especially for youth who lack reliable access to technology.

Community Outreach and Mobile Helpdesk

To reach underserved areas, YEF operates outreach and mobile helpdesk services at schools, community centres, markets, and public events. This ensures support reaches those who may not be able to visit fixed locations.

Advocacy and Systems Navigation

Beyond individual support, the programme identifies recurring challenges and systemic barriers faced by youth and communities. YEF uses these insights to advocate for improved service delivery, fair processes, and youth-responsive systems.
